This course is an introduction to the shielded metal arc welding process. Training consists of taking proper steps for the prep and cleaning of base materials before welding; electrode selection, joint design, fillet welds, T-Joints, open root in various positions 2G, 5G, 6G, oxyfuel cutting, and reading and understanding weld symbols. Graduates may find suitable employment in weld shops, manufacturing/production facilities, and commercial/industrial construction. Structural welders can be found working in new building construction, highway infrastructure, equipment manufacturers, fabrication shops and many other related areas.
